FAQ

Who can attend?
The Iowa Thespian Festival welcomes...
  • Thespians and their troupe directors
  • Non-member high school theatre students with their teachers
  • Guest artists

I am a student. Can I register myself?
Students must register with a school to participate in the Iowa Thespian Festival. The school must have an appropriate number of chaperones for the number of students registered.

What forms will I need to complete as part of my registration?
In addition to the school registration completed by the troupe director, all student attendees will need to complete a Festival Emergency Medical and Consent form (regardless of age). All consent forms from a school must be submitted by the troupe director when they register.

How do I register if our school does not have a Thespian troupe?
Schools that do not currently have a Thespian troupe should email Aaron Dean, registration coordinator, at [email protected] for assistance with registering.

When does registration open online?
Registration opens in mid-August and closes in mid-October. Check out the full registration page for more details on all registration deadlines.

Is housing available?
The basic registration fee does NOT include housing. Troupe Directors should contact area hotels to make reservations as soon as possible. Rooms have NOT been reserved. There are a variety of hotels in both Cedar Falls and Waterloo.

Who can participate in college auditions?

Thespian scholarship auditions are open to inducted Thespians who are in the class of 2024. College auditions are available to any student (Thespian or non-Thespian) that will be a graduating senior. College representatives will follow up directly with students to request a callback.
